Wawasan Open University is Malaysia's first
charity-backed private,
not-for-profit university dedicated to adult learners. Currently, it
offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes through the open distance

DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR (ACADEMIC)
Requirements
-
Applicants should possess an earned PhD degree with at least 20
years working experience in higher education. The candidate
should be carrying the title of a full professor, with a proven
track record of academic excellence and administrative
leadership at senior levels. Experience of open and distance
learning systems would be an advantage as would a high level of
oral and written language competence (English and Bahasa
Malaysia*).

to enhance their excellence in teaching and scholarship.

The Job
-
Responsible to the Vice Chancellor for resource planning,
budgets and allocations.

University.

The Job
- Reporting to the Vice Chancellor via the Dean of the School, the appointee is tasked with providing leadership in the development of new academic programmes.
- Provide leadership in the creation and development of ODL materials
for undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
- Coordinate the delivery of courses in the prescribed fields within the School.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, management and evaluation of part-time tutors.

NON-ACADEMIC POSITIONS
Director, Marketing & Communications
Reporting to Deputy
Vice Chancellor, Operations and as a key member of Wawasan Open
University’s (WOU) management team, the incumbent is responsible for
developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies
to achieve overall organisational goals and objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develops
the University’s marketing and communications plan, in line with the
University’s strategic and business plan.
- Develops
and recommends an annual plan and budget for the Marketing and
Communications department.
- Directs
market research activities in order to keep abreast of changing
demographics and other relevant issues.
- Promotes
study opportunities through the proper use of marketing materials,
including advertising and promotions, online and digital marketing,
roadshows, conferences, and direct marketing efforts.

Coordinates
the design and development of print (brochures, posters, marketing
point of sales, etc.) and broadcast (advertorial, advertisements,
etc.) materials.
- Develops CRM strategies for student retention and updates the CRM
database and produces regular reports. This includes managing the
University’s Customer Service Unit and Call Centre.
- Develops
and implements communications and media strategies that successfully
deliver information and key messages to the public.
- Reaches
out to students, alumni, media and various sectors of community,
through two-way communication and understanding between the
University, its customers and the community at large.

Responsible for external and internal communication (University’s
web page and staff portal) and publicity strategies.

Develops
alumni relationship and support through the alumni link programme.

Responsible
for publication of both print and e-newsletter, write-ups and
speeches, and organisation of relevant marketing and communication
events.
Qualifications & Requirements:

University graduate in business, marketing, communications or an
equivalent combination of education, training and expertise. A postgraduate
qualification, such as an MBA, would be advantageous.
- Possess a minimum of ten years combined senior management and
communications experience in an organisation involving a significant number
of people with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds.

Experience must include strategic planning, communications planning
and management, marketing and media relations.

Strong
communicator with excellent written, presentation, oral
communications and interpersonal skills.

Senior Accountant [Finance]
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor in Accounting or equivalent Professional Accounting qualification.
- 2nd major in Computer Science an added advantage.
- Minimum 4 to 8 years related working experience with 2 to 3 years in managerial/supervisory position.
- Excellent and proven project management skills.
- Knowledge of ERP system.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Good written & verbal communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to lead development & implementation of system.
The Job
- Provide leadership for overall process improvements, system development and implementation for finance.
- Heavily involved in the definition of requirements for acquiring, developing and enhancing applications solutions.
- Development process documentation & conduct necessary training to end user.
- Ensure effective internal controls.
- Lead projects and provide consulting to management & other business partners on across functional impacts.
Senior Course Designer / Instructional Designer
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in ICT, Computer Science, Electronics and/or Education.
- A Master's degree in these fields or in education [Instructional Design] will be preferred.
- Good command of English language [Distinction in English 1119] would be a distinct advantage.
- Skills in Flash applications are also considered.
The Job
- Convert raw materials into instructionally sound course materials in print and web-based modes.
- Train course writers to write in conformance with the house style.
Educational Technology & Publishing Executive
Requirements
- Basic Degree in English / Publishing / Instructional Design / Business.
- Minimum 3 years working experience.
- Good command of English language [Distinction in English 1119] would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong in Technical subjects [Computing].

Database Administrator
Requirements

University
degree/equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline.

At least 2 years
experience in Database Administrator role on both Linux and
Windows’ platforms, MySQL and MSSQL server databases. Additional
experience in Oracle would be an added advantage.

With strong
analytical & programming skill with at least 2 years experience
in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) design and
analysis experience.

Willingness and
flexibility to work in odd hours if needs arise.

Requirements

Bachelor’s
degree with emphasis in a computer related field or the
equivalent skill knowledge. MCSE/SA, CCNA certifications will be
advantages.

years working experience with IT infrastructure management.

Possess strong
technical skills in setting-up and managing Windows 2003,
Netware, Linux, & Unix Servers, LDAP, Active Directory and
e-Directory.

Strong
experience in managing associated application & services like,
DNS, DHCP, SYSLOG, FTP server, File/Print servers. Previous
experience with Novell Groupwise, MSExchange,MDaemon, and Qmail
is desirable.

Requirements

Bachelor’s

certifications is desirable. In additional, experience with
Enterprise Systems support and Library Information Systems
program integration is an added advantage.

capabilities. Coordinate and execute systems testing. Ensure
proper change control procedures are followed. Evaluate system
integration impacts beyond the scope of specified change.

Maintenance,
Enhancement and Support : Provide support as necessary to
existing suite of applications within a functional area. Solve
software problems in a timely fashion. Provide support to user
on technical and process.
Marketing & Admission Executives/Officers (Kuala

Requirements
- Degree/Diploma or the equivalent in Business Studies, Mass Communications with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Able to work on weekends.
The Job
- Support and maintain admission, examination and students records.
- Responsible for all aspects relating to the marketing of the University and its programmes.
- Develop marketing plans, potential student database and handle all enquiries.
- Assist in counselling and provide guidance on enquiries on advance
